• Painless Injections:                                                                                                                                                                                               One of primary concerns is making your visit as comfortable as possible. We know that one if the common fears is "the shot", and with that in mind er are doing what we can to help in that regard. Dr. Cornwell has created a technique using a very specialized syringe to make this whole process much more gentle. In addition, we are one of the first offices in the state using a new buffering solution mixed with an anesthetic to help take away the sting associated with injections to numb the tooth.

  • Veneers:

If you've seen the extreme makeover shows on television, you are                                                             certainly aware of the versatility and simplicity of porcelain veneers.                                                         These thin porcelain covers can be used to close gaps between                                                                   teeth, change the look of misshapen teeth, straighten crooked and                                                           misaligned teeth, and change the color to almost anything you could                                                          hope for.

  • All Porcelain Crowns:

When we think of esthetic dentistry, all                                                                                                             porcelain crowns have changed everything.                                                                                                     Older type crowns are made with a metal base                                                                                               and have porcelain covers. These work well                                                                                                     structurally, but I'm sure you've known someone                                                                                           with crowns who  has a noticeable black line at the gum line. What you are seeing is the metal under the porcelain. All porcelain crown have no metal and, therefore, leave no black line. If the situation is such that only a crown or bridge can fix the problem, then all porcelain crowns are the natural looking option available and will even match well with porcelain veneers.

  • Direct Crowns * A New Product for Special Needs:

Some of you who come to our office in need of restorative dentistry are not necessarily good candidates for the traditional crowns which we have always provided. Due to special circumstances which we are seeing more frequently in our practice, I'd like to introduce our patients and friends to a new product designed for use by the general dentist that may be of interest.

The Direct Crown is a unique type of crown made by curing a material, similar to the white fillings currently used in dentistry, with heat and pressure, thereby increasing its strength tremendously. This new crown can be made in a single one-hour visit for less than half the cost of a traditional crown. This could be a wonderful choice for patients in specific situations: for older patients who might need a crown and would welcome a less expensive alternative to traditional crowns lasting 20 to 30 years; for cancer patients whose prognosis is uncertain; for people whose economic or employment circumstances are in transition, or who just cannot afford the cost of a long-lasting crown at this moment, but may be better situated in the future.

These crowns look good, work well and feel almost like the real thing, but they are not as strong and will not last nearly as long as the traditional crown we would routinely recommend. Rather, it is a terrific alternative for a patient with a very specific need, and we are happy to be able to offer this service to those who require it.
